Butterfly Kits for Children

Once the coupons are redeemed, the child will receive up to eight larvae in a couple of weeks.  Once they place them in the Pavilion, and care for them as instructed, the magnificent Monarch or Painted Lady butterfly will emerge.

Metamorphosis

From an educational standpoint, the children will learn the metamorphosis of this incredible creature with these kits.  They will receive the caterpillars, or larvae, that will feast on the leaves that the children will provide them.  In a few weeks, the caterpillar outgrows and sheds their skin, and continues to grow, and eventually it will begin constructing a cocoon in which it will live during the metamorphosis progression. 

As the children observe the chrysalis, it turns gold, and in another couple of weeks the transformed magnificent butterfly emerges.  It gracefully opens its wings for them to dry and inflate with blood, and in a short time, they are dried and these graceful creatures are ready to fly.
